Ken Shamrock vs Bobby Lashley To Face Off At ‘March Badness’

Bloody Elbow has reported that UFC Hall of Famer and former WWE star Ken Shamrock has signed on to fight another former WWE star, Bobby Lashley, at the Roy Jones Jr. promoted ‘March Badness’.
The 45 year-old Shamrock (27-13-2), who recently earned a victory over Ross Clifton, will possibly attempt to add one last exclamation point to his career with a victory over the big named Lashley.

WEC 39: Brown vs Garcia Recap

In continuing with World Extreme Cagefightings’s recent history, Sunday night’s event was loaded with explosivness. WEC 39: Brown vs Garcia, which featured a Featherweight Championship bout against Mike Brown and Leonard Garcia, also saw several highly ranked contenders and a former champion compete.

Nogueira vs. Couture at UFC 101

According to published reports, former UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture have agreed to face off in August of this year, most likely at UFC 101. The bout would mark both fighter’s first appearance in the cage since dropping their respective titles to Frank Mir, and Brock Lesnar.

WEC 40 to Include Rafael Assuncao vs. Jameel Massouh

Rumor has it that top featherweight Rafael Assuncao (12-1) will be facing Jameel Massouh (21-4) at “WEC 40: Torres vs. Mizugaki”. Sources close to the bout informed of the addition to the WEC 40 card.

Assuncao enters the contest on a four fight winning streak, while Massouh has won five in a row. Massouh’s last loss was to Clay French at “AMMA 1 - Adrenaline MMA 1” on 6/14/2008. Assuncao has a solitary loss on his record to Jeff Curran all the way back on 11/11/2006.

Strikeforce Thomson-Melendez Press Release

Strikeforce World Lightweight Champion Josh “The Punk” Thomson (16-2) and top challenger “El Nino” Gilbert Melendez (14-2) will revisit their classic, five-round battle when they collide in a rematch for the coveted 155-pound title at Strikeforce: “Shamrock vs. Diaz” mixed martial arts (MMA) event at San Jose, California’s HP Pavilion on Saturday, April 11th live on SHOWTIME (10 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast).

Official weigh-in results for Sunday’s WEC card at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. The card is headlined by the WEC featherweight title bout between Mike Brown and Leonard Garcia. All 22 fighters made weight.

South Carolina has moved one step closer to making MMA a legally sanctioned activity in the state.

Rule changes and the providence of athletic commissions have been cited as making the difference in swaying public and legislative opinion—not to mention that with the growing popularity of the sport it has become obvious that there is a pretty penny to be made.

Jamie Varner Returns to Fight Another Day

When Jamie Varner’s fight against Donald Cerrone at WEC 38 ended prematurely due to an illegal knee not only was a future rematch in question, but the possibility of Varner ever even fighting again at all looked grim.

Though by most accounts Varner had dominated the fight, after garnering the decision win he nonetheless left that night worse for the wear with a broken hand, fractured foot, and what looked to be a detached retina.

Troy Mandaloniz Cut From UFC Roster

Troy Mandaloniz, a cast member from “The Ultimate Fighter 6” who recently suffered the first UFC loss of his career, has been cut from the organization.

Mandaloniz learned of the news after a hard-fought unanimous-decision loss to Paul Kelly at the Feb. 21 UFC 95 event in London, England.
