In an unfortunate turn of events, highly touted Brian Bowles who is widely regarded as a top 3 fighter in the Bantamweight division has been forces out of his much anticipated title fight against Miguel Torres. However, all is not lost as, Takeya Mazugaki, another top ten Bantamweight has already stepped up and taken the fight.

Mizugaki will be fighting for the first time on United States Soil and will be making his WEC debut. Up until this point the Japanese fighter has fought exclusively in Japan for the Shooto and GCM Organizations. Mizugaki has a very impressive record at 11-2-2 and is riding a five fight winning streak and hasn’t suffered a loss in over two years.

While many will argue that this will be an easier fight for Torres who is currently on a 16-fight win streak, Mizugaki, will no doubt pose a challenge to Torres’ Crown. Torres has not had a fight go to the judges in nearly 4 years, and will no doubt be trying to put away a threat as strong as Mizugaki as quickly as possible. This fight as do all Torres’s fights, has potential Fight of the Year written all over it.

This Title Fight between Torres and Mizugaki will be for five, five minute rounds and will be the main event of WEC 40, which is scedualed to take place on April 5th, in Chicago.
