Bellator 62 Delivers Another Impressive Night Of Action

Emanating live from Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, Tex., Bellator 62 presented the opening round of the Bellator season six lightweight tournament. By all accounts, Bellator presented yet another thrilling card which delivered on all fronts, including: a brutal knockout, an orthodox submission, a war of attrition, and a major upset. Tournament favorite and season four finalist Patricky “Pitbull” Freire would find the success he has obtained in prior Bellator lightweight tournaments to be fleeting when he stepped into the cage against Lloyd Woodard.

New Method For Scoring Bouts Proposed

With a rash of contreversial decisions in several recent high profile bouts, MMA judging has come under considerable fire from fans and insiders alike. MMA and boxing judge Barry Lindenman may have a solution. Going off of the general assumption that of the five standard scoring criteria for MMA bouts, clean striking and effective grappling carry more weight than cage control, effective aggressiveness and defense, I would like to propose a possible revision to the current judge’s scorecard.

Featured Fights: Rampage’s Wishes Come True; A Look At His Future And Past With Shogun

Never one to keep quiet, former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has recently taking to his twitter boisterously airing out his dirty laundry with the promotion. “The UFC makes billions off us all over the world [and] pay us chump change,” said the outspoken fighter. Rampage went as far as to say “Well I'm hoping the [UFC] just let me go so I can do my thang.” Well, it seems that UFC President Dana White is granting not just one, but two of Jackson’s wishes.

Sixteen Advance On “The Ultimate Fighter: Live” On FX

With all the recent changes to "The Ultimate Fighter," it shouldn’t have been surprising when UFC President Dana White threw another curveball at the news cast of UFC hopefuls. The popular series’ first live season would feature one round preliminary bouts for all those competing, with the added incentive of a five thousand dollar check for all those who would finish their bouts, all the competitors made sure to bring their A-games. Eight of the 16 advancing fighters managed to finish their opponent within the five-minute time limit and cash in on the bonus.

Live from Horsehoe Hammond in Hammond, Indiana, Bellator Fighting Championships 60 was headlined by a featherweight championship grudge when Champion Joe Warren met summer season tournament winner Pat Curran. Warren looked to impose his will early on, taking down Curran seemingly at will. Curran, however, refused to be held down. Curran continually got back to his feet and badly hurt the Olympic hopeful. Warren managed to survive the beating and live to see the bell as the first round ended.

Weekend Rewind: The History Of TUF Coaches Cruz And Faber

In a few short hours, the UFC will launch "The Ultimate Fighter’s" inaugural FX season. Given the honors of coaching in what may very well be the show’s biggest season to date are Urijah Faber and Dominick Cruz. While neither fighter is particularly known for hyperbolic fight hype or having a bad attitude towards their opponents, these two bantamweights simply do not like each other. On this past week’s installment of "Ultimate Insider," this dynamic was put on display as both men were sat in a theater to comment on their two prior encounters.

Few fighters make their professional MMA debuts and become overnight sensations, especially those that do not have collegiate championships, gold medals, or famous lineages. However, Kenneth “Pit” Crowder has done just that. A few weeks removed from his first professional fight, the video of him elbowing his opponent’s ear halfway across the cage has spread like a wild fire.
